Há 25 anos, após a apresentação do American Music Awards, vários artistas se reuniram nos estúdios da A&M Records em Los Angeles para gravar a música "We Are the World".
O produtor Quincy Jones colocou uma placa no estúdio que pedia aos participantes para "deixarem seus egos na porta". A medida teve efeito e as gravações ocorreram sem problemas.
O GRUPO BONEY, O GRUPO DE MAIOR SUSSESSO NOS ANOS 70
O grupo Boney M, que surgiu em 1976 e atingiu o auge de popularidade na época das discotecas, voltou a fazer sucesso. Desta vez na Cisjordânia.
O grupo se apresentou em um festival para chamar a atenção para os conflitos entre árabes e israelenses. Da formação original, apenas Maizie Williams permaneceu.
Entre os sucessos do Boney M estão "Daddy Cool", "Ma Baker", "Rasputin", "Rivers of Babylon", "Sunny" e "Gotta Go Home". O grupo ganhou 15 discos de ouro e 18 de platina.
Maizie Williams disse que é uma bênção ter no público os filhos e os netos dos fãs dos anos 70. No show, apenas "Rivers of Babylon" ficou ausente, a pedido dos organizadores porque a música, segundo eles, fala do sionismo.
